  • NALMEFENE CONSTA® (SmartDepot – Nalmefene extended-release injection) Nalmefene   is a drug that reverses the effects of opioids. Nalmefene works as a “blocker.” The blockade of opioid receptors is the basis behind Nalmefene's action in the management of opioid dependence—it reversibly blocks or attenuates the effects of opioids. It attaches to certain opioid receptors in brain and blocks the pleasurable feelings associated with taking opioids. NALMEFENE CONSTA® is an opioid antagonist indicated for the treatment of Opioid Dependence. NALMEFENE CONSTA® is indicated for the prevention of relapse to opioid dependence, following opioid detoxification. NALMEFENE CONSTA® shows efficacy for maintaining abstinence, improving retention, decreasing craving, and preventing relapse.
  • VANOXERINE CONSTA® (SmartDepot-Vanoxerine extended-release injection) is indicated for use in treating cocaine dependence. Vanoxerine, is a potent and selective dopamine reuptake inhibitor. Vanoxerine binds to the target site on the dopamine transporter 50 times more strongly than cocaine , but simultaneously inhibits the release of dopamine. This combined effect only slightly elevates dopamine levels and block the rewarding effects of cocaine. VANOREXINE CONSTA® is indicated for the prevention of relapse to cocaine dependence, following cocaine detoxification process.
  • TEMPOSIL CONSTA® (SmartDepot-Temposil extended-release injection) Temposil, is an alcohol sensitizing agent. In the body, alcohol is converted to acetaldehyde, which is then broken down by aldehyde dehydrogenase. Its effects that it interferes with the normal metabolism of alcohol by preventing the breakdown of the metabolic by produc acetaldehyde. If the dehydrogenase enzyme is inhibited, acetaldehyde builds up and causes unpleasant effects. It causes unpleasant effects when even small amounts of alcohol are consumed.  TEMPOSIL CONSTA® is used for alcoholism therapy; medical treatment of alcoholism. TEMPOSIL CONSTA® is indicated for the treatment of alcohol dependence in patients who are able to abstain from alcohol.

The administration of Long-Acting Injection  Nalmefene, Vanoxerine or Temposil  in conjunction with psychosocial support has been associated with significant improvement in  outcome measures, especially among patients who are abstinent entering treatment. The available depot formulations have the potential to significantly improve medication compliance in opioid, alcohol and stimulant dependence combining pharmacotherapy with psychosocial and behavioral interventions has helped improve the treatment of alcohol and other drug dependence disorders.
